Get in gear
Just arrive a few minutes early to get situated and introduce yourself to your instructor. If there’s time, he or she can answer a question or two. Also: Give your instructor a heads up about any injuries.
Dress the part
Stretchy clothing works best. Your instructor needs to see your muscles and how they’re working so he or she can evaluate your form and offer adjustments. If you have long hair, you’ll want to secure it so that it doesn’t get tangled in the equipment. Remove accessories like jewelry and scarves.
If it’s a mat class, you’re welcome to use one of ours. If you’d like to bring your own, find out the kind of mat that your instructor prefers. Other than that, water bottles are always a good idea.
Most students go barefoot. But, if that’s not for you, consider buying special footwear like Pilates shoes or thin barrier socks with added traction.
