Learn what to expect at your first massage appointment, so you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible during your experience. Massage benefits include promoting muscle recovery, helping prevent injury and relieving soreness or tension.
When should I arrive?
Arrive 10 - 15 minutes before your appointment for check-in and to complete any necessary paperwork before your massage begins.
How should I check in?
Life Time members can swipe their membership card at the club front desk. LifeSpa guests who are not Life Time members will sign in electronically with a front desk team member. Then, head to the LifeSpa where you’ll be greeted at our reception desk and directed to a calming waiting area with complimentary coffee, tea or water.
What should I wear for my massage?
Our FLX stretching massage is done fully clothed. We recommend clothing similar to what you’d wear to work out, allowing for easy movement, bending and stretching.
For our XEN relaxation or RSQ deep tissue massages, we recommend undressing to your comfort level. For example, some men prefer to wear gym shorts and some women will keep their undergarments on. You will be covered by a sheet at all times while the massage therapist works on the areas you discussed during your consultation.
Our massage therapists use oil, which will transfer onto clothing items worn during the service. Small amounts of oil may also transfer to clothing items or hair when you get dressed after your appointment.
Should I do anything to prepare for my massage?
Drink water before and after your massage as part of your everyday healthy routine.
How does the massage start?
Your massage therapist will guide you to a room from the waiting area. The appointment starts with a consultation to answer any questions you may have and determine the best course of action for your service. This consultation does not count toward your service time, so be as specific as you can to help the therapist determine the ideal plan for your session.
The massage therapist will then leave the room for a short time, allowing you the privacy to undress to your comfort level and get comfortable under the sheets and blankets on the massage table. The massage therapist will knock and await your confirmation prior to reentering the room, ensuring you are ready to begin.
What happens during the massage?
Depending on the type of massage and your consultation, your massage therapist will use a variety of techniques to help you relax and release tension from your muscles.
FLX massage will include active stretching and other techniques to help improve flexibility and range of motion.
XEN massage will work on relaxing your mind and body with light pressure; warm, soothing techniques; and Swedish massage.
RSQ massage may use deeper pressure and trigger point work to relieve areas of tightness or soreness.
Feel free to speak up at any time during your massage, and ask your massage therapist to adjust the pressure level, table heat or any other comfort issues.
Once your massage time has ended, your massage therapist will let you know they are leaving the room and will meet you outside the massage room when you are ready. You can use this time to get dressed and gather your belongings before exiting the room, where your massage therapist will meet you with a glass of water to help cleanse toxins from your system and refresh you. You’ll then be escorted back to the reception desk
