“The staff have helped me reach my goals as well as taught me how to love living a healthy lifestyle. I can honestly say I will never go back to my 320-pound self.”

My husband died February 21,2015. He died due to complications from diabetes, kidney failure, and congestive heart failure. He was over 300 pounds. I was also over 300 pounds when I walked into Life Time in Canton, Michigan a month later. I was 320 pounds. I started my journey with Team Weight loss, Trevor was my trainer for the first year. I was the heaviest person in the group but I was determined to keep up. After all, my children had already lost one parent, I wasn't about to make my children orphans. I was trying to save my life. I attended the class faithfully for nine months but I had a lot of trouble moving the scale. I felt myself getting stronger, my clothes were fitting better but I wasn't losing a lot of weight. I went to my doctor, and after running a few tests I was told that I had some hormonal problems preventing me from losing the weight I needed to lose. I decided to undergo gastric sleeve surgery. My trainers at Life Time were very supportive. I continued to go to the gym at least five times a week with my new trainer, Kyle. The Team Weight Loss trainers helped me not just focus on losing weight but developing a healthy lifestyle so that I can keep it off. I received nutrition counseling from Nick, the nutritionist, that was invaluable to me. I learned how to cook and appreciate healthier foods. To date, I have lost 125 pounds. I am happy with my weight. Now I am focused on maintaining my weight loss and toning my body. I have participated in two 5k's, hiked up a mountain with my children, and learned how to swim. Life Time has been a blessing to me. The staff have helped me reach my goals as well as taught me how to love living a healthy lifestyle. I can honestly say I will never go back to my 320 pound self. I'm enjoying life and my children are enjoying a healthier, happier mom. Thanks Life Time for helping me take a personal tragedy and turning it into a personal triumph.
